First Presbyterian planning jazz service, brunch Sunday
First Presbyterian Church will have a jazz service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
The Rev. Joe Phipps, pastor of the church, will combine scripture and an inspirational message with music performed by a jazz ensemble.
The ensemble, conducted by Jim Edgeton, will include Jeri Kunkle with vocals, Ken Burns and Rodger Gillaspie on saxophone, Francis Thicke on trumpet, Jim Wotherspoon on trombone, Leanne Edgeton on piano, Gerry Runyon on bass and Ken Norton on drums.
Following the jazz service, a brunch, featuring biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit and a beverage, will be served. A free will donation will be collected for the brunch.
Everyone is invited to attend the service and brunch.
Faith United Methodist to elect conference attendee
LIBERTYVILLE ? Immediately following its 10:30 a.m. worship Sunday, Faith United Methodist Church will have a special charge conference.
The agenda for the meeting is electing a lay member and an alternate lay member to the 2016 annual conference.
Lillian Gallo Seagren, the church?s district superintendent, will preside in the role of elder.
Gamma Circle meeting set
Gamma Circle of First Presbyterian Church will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday at SunnyBrook Assisted Living.
Marshan Roth will be hostess.
Shirley McCracken will have devotions.
Jean Wallace will have the program.
