Jefferson County Cattlemen had a recent informational meeting.
Jess Jackson, the local grazing specialist from NRCS, was guest speaker. He highlighted basic information on pasture management and the effects on the grazing herd. He discussed how cattlemen are managing a moving target as cow needs change throughout the year and weather is never a reliable factor in decision making. Jackson explained plant composition ? how water and sunlight work together to promote plant growth and how all things put together impact a grazing herd.
He has information about pasture management and rotation grazing along with a network of professional colleagues to help address specific individual needs.
