FAIRFIELD — Iowa State University Extension and Outreach for Jefferson County is calling on local businesses and organizations to help bring Halloween cheer to hundreds of children at its annual Trunk or Treat event, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. This festive, family-friendly event invites youth ages 12 and under to dress in costume and enjoy an evening of trick-or-treating, games, and treats. More than 30 community groups are expected to participate, handing out candy, pencils, stickers, and other goodies from decorated trunks and tables. In previous years, the event has drawn crowds of up to 700 children.
Businesses and organizations interested in participating can contact Jeri Crile at (641) 472-4166 or via email at jcrile@iastate.edu to reserve a spot. Setup for participating organizations begins in the afternoon on Oct. 25, and there is no fee to host a booth. Please reserve your booth by Thursday, October 16.
Families attending the event should enter through the fairgrounds’ main entrance and park in the designated fair parking area. Bags for collecting treats will be provided at the gate, which opens at 5 p.m. In addition to trick-or-treating, attendees can enjoy free walking tacos — courtesy of a grant from the Greater Jefferson County Foundation. For the latest updates, visit the event’s Facebook page at https://go.iastate.edu/PYXR25. Whether you're handing out treats or collecting them, Trunk or Treat promises a safe and spirited night of fun for Jefferson County families.
