FAIRFIELD — Nearly 1,700 people flocked to the Jefferson County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Oct. 25, for the annual Trunk or Treat event hosted by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Jefferson County. Families enjoyed a festive evening filled with candy, games, and community spirit.
The event featured dozens of decorated trunks and tables from local businesses, organizations, and volunteers. Children and families strolled through the fairgrounds, collecting treats and enjoying interactive displays. Inside the Show Arena, 4-H members kept the fun going with games, while Extension Council members and volunteers served free meals of hot dogs, chips, and fruit. The meal was made possible through a grant from the Greater Jefferson County Foundation and donations from Hy-Vee, Farm Credit Services, and Jefferson County Rural Water.
Businesses and organizations with trunks and tables included Addington Place, Aeron, BTS Sanitation, Cambridge Little Achievers, City of Fairfield, Cranston Family Funeral Home, Everybody's, Fairfield Fire Department, Fairfield Kiwanis Club, Fairfield Police Department, Fairfield Public Library, Fairfield Youth Performing Arts, Farm Bureau Women, First MainStreet Insurance, Girl Scouts, Hy-Vee, Jefferson County Ambulance Service, Jefferson County Fair Board, Jefferson County Health Center, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Leading Hands 4-H Club, Nurturing Families and Parents and Teachers, Packwood Trojans 4-H Club, Picture Perfect Salon and Spa, Prestige Care Center, Scooters Coffee, ServPro, Sinclair, Tiers of Delight Cakes, Traffix Devices, and Washington State Bank. As in previous years, trunks and tables were judged for creativity. Winners included: Best 4-H or FFA Display: Packwood Trojans 4-H Club; Best Table: Addington Place; and Best Trunk: Cranston Family Funeral Home.
Jefferson County Extension Staff would like to special thanks to the Jefferson County Fair Board for providing the grounds and assisting with setup and cleanup, as well as the many volunteers, businesses, and organizations who made the event possible.
