The Jefferson County Farm Bureau is sponsoring a breakfast from 6-8 a.m. Tuesday at the Fairfield Hy-Vee Food and Drug Store in appreciation of area agricultural producers.
According to Farm Bureau officials, Jefferson County is home to some of the hardest working farmers in Iowa. The farmers are stewards of the land, animal caregivers and community supporters, and ?we owe a lot to the producers that feed, clothe and invest in our local community.?
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, a farmer earns just 15 cents for every dollar spent on food. To stress this fact, the Jefferson County Farm Bureau will offer a breakfast buffet for $1 ? the amount a farmer earns for the $6 feast.
Everyone is invited to join the Jefferson County Farm Bureau at the breakfast to show appreciation to and visit with local producers.
