JEFFERSON COUNTY FARM BUREAU WOMEN

The Jefferson County Farm Bureau Women gathered for a noon luncheon meeting Tuesday at Kokomo?s Kafé.

Larry Unkrich from the Big River Resources LLC ethanol plant in West Burlington was the guest speaker. He gave a history of the operation from its conception in 2000 through the present day. He said the plant offers tours. Big River Resources has plants in Illinois and Wisconsin, as well as Iowa.

Shirley Stanley opened the business meeting with a reading about ?Lone Birds.? Roll call was answered by 15 people on the buildings, landmarks, land and transportation of Canada.

Many ideas were discussed for the Women in Ag Day program. Stanley will research the details for the event, which will probably be later in March.

In place of sponsoring Food Check-Out Day, a breakfast may be held March 12 at Fairfield Hy-Vee Food and Drug Store.

The next meeting will be March 6 at Pizza Hut, with Christine Schiedel hosting. All are welcome.
