Jefferson County Farm Bureau Women met Dec. 10 and then again Jan. 7.
December
The Dec. 10 meeting was held at the Jefferson County Farm Bureau Office, where attendees enjoyed a potluck luncheon and meeting. Hostesses were Sharon Schafer, Christine Schiedel, and Shirley McCracken. Eleven members answered roll call with information about their favorite Christmas gift received.
Members voted to retain current officers for 2020: Sharon Schafer as president, Lynne Johnson as vice president, Shirley Stanley as secretary, Sharon Brown as assistant secretary, Sandy Nelson as historian, Shirley Stanley in charge of public relations, and Christine Schiedel as caller.
The group decided to have Study of Japan for 2020 roll call. Members signed up for hosting and programs for the next year. Congratulations were given to Wilma Lewis Whitham, recently honored for being a 70-year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Also, to Carol Messer, honored at the December Iowa Farm Bureau Conference in Des Moines, for Distinguished State Service Award.
January
The Jan. 7 meeting was held at the Riverside Family Restaurant III in Fairfield. Ten members answered roll call with information about people, language and sports in Japan.
Sharon Brown, hostess for the April 7 meeting, gave information about The Button Factory/Museum for a planned tour and lunch at a nearby restaurant in Muscatine. Members will carpool from Fairfield. Reservations need to be made soon for the tour.
Shirley McCracken was in charge of the program, and read about two farmers. She shared information about being healthy in 2020, eating healthy balanced meals, exercising every day, and about the new Vision and Hearing Plan available for Wellmark and Medicare members. She asked each member about their New Year's resolutions for 2020. She talked about de-cluttering, being organized in one's home, and doing a 'keep or toss” one room at a time.
Jeanene Peiffer will be the hostess for the next meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
