Jefferson County foundation, extension plan November scholarship workshop
Sep. 28, 2021 6:27 pm
The Greater Jefferson County Foundation and Jefferson County Extension will partner again to host a free 2021 Scholarship Workshop on Sunday, Nov. 7 from 2-4 p.m. It will be held in the Cambridge Building on the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. Space is limited.
Although the workshop is free, registration is required for seating purposes. To register, contact Jeri Crile at the Jefferson County Extension at 641-472-4166, or email jcrile@iastate.edu.
The Greater Jefferson County Foundation administers over 50 local scholarships created by “generous and thoughtful donors,” according to a news release from the organization. As announced earlier this year, the foundation has received funding for three new scholarships.
The majority of the foundation’s scholarships may be accessed online at www.gjcfscholarships.org. Twelve of the other applications are available through the counselor’s office at Fairfield High School.
Many of the scholarships are based on financial need, but other criteria assigned by the donors, such as school preference, GPA or field of study, may apply. Senior students from Pekin High School are also eligible and encouraged to apply for some online foundation scholarships.
A new scholarship this year is open to past FHS graduates. This is the Pete & Fern Crafton Alumni Scholarship, and is available through the Foundation Scholarship website.
Scholarship applications are open December 1, 2021 and close at 4 p.m. on Feb. 1, 2022.
Questions regarding the scholarships or the workshop may be directed to 641-472-0758 or gjcf0758@windstream.net. For more information about The Greater Jefferson County Foundation, visit the website at www.greaterjeffersoncountyfoundation.org.
