ASTYM treatment, an evidence-based rehab program for tendonitis and post-op/post injury scar tissue, is now available at Jefferson County Health Center. Brian Peterson, PT, MDT has achieved ASTYM certification, and joins a nationwide network of rehab professionals qualified to perform this most-effective treatment.
The ASTYM system is a therapy approach that addresses the cause of soft tissue problems, not just the symptoms. It engages the body?s own healing process to change areas that are not functioning properly. This system uses instruments to help identify problem areas. Once located, the instruments stimulate the abnormal tissue, which triggers the body?s healing process.
In conjunction with the ASTYM treatment, a program of functional activities and stretching specifically for each patient is implemented to help guide their body through the healing process.
Patients are encouraged to continue normal activities throughout the treatment process.
Patients who have problems in their soft tissue (muscles, tendons and ligaments) that may have
resulted in scarring or degeneration may benefit from the ASTYM
system. ASTYM therapy has proven effective in the treatment of
lateral epicondylosis (tennis elbow), medial epicondylosis (golfer?s elbow), carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, chronic ankle sprains, Achilles tendinitis, and scar tissue that can interfere with
recovery after surgery, to name a few. Physician referral is required.
