JEFFERSON COUNTY RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL
The Jefferson County Unit of the Iowa Retired School Personnel had a luncheon meeting Feb. 24 at SunnyBrook.
The guest speaker was City Administrator Mike Harmon, who gave the group an update on Fairfield?s strategic plan. Among the points he covered, three were of special interest to the group. The construction project for Roosevelt Community Recreation Center is nearing completion, and the open house is planned for March 19. The town drinking water system is tested frequently and is working well, but the waste treatment plant is antiquated, is in bad need of repair, and no longer meets the standards required by federal regulations, so it is the big project that has to be done now.
The next meeting will be March 24. The guest will be an exchange student from Fairfield High School.
