Jefferson County Veterans Affairs office to reopen for in-person transactions

Beginning Monday, May 18, the Jefferson County Veterans Affairs and General Relief office will be open to in-person transactions. Office Hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday. The last appointment will be scheduled at 4 p.m. The following guidelines will apply until further notice:

- Claims will be done by appointment only. Customers may make an appointment by calling (641)-472-3013 or Email to va@jeffersoncountyia.com . If no answer, leave a message with your Name and contact information.

- Customers will be allowed into/out of the office by the Director. Only 1 customer will be allowed in the Office at a time.

- Customers should not arrive more than five minutes before appointment and MAY be asked to wait outside.

- If a customer is more than five minutes late, that appointment will be cancelled.

- 15 minutes will be scheduled for assistance appointments. 30 minutes will be scheduled for Veteran Benefit appointments. If more time is needed arrangements will be made.

- Use of Personal Protective Equipment is encouraged but not required.
