Jerry Edward Kiger, 79, of Douds died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.
The body has been cremated, no local services are planned. Burial of cremains will be in West Virginia at a later date.
Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua assisted the family.

Mr. Kiger was born Nov. 20, 1933, in New Martinsville, W. Va., the son of Orville and Theo Adline Covert Kiger. He married Bessie ?Peggy? Gerrard in 1991.
He was a 1951 graduate of New Martinsville High School, attended West Virginia University and served in the U.S. Navy.
He retired as a boilermaker and had been a member of Boilermaker Local No. 199 in Jacksonville, Fla.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Douds.
He was a member of the John Hyson Reneker Post No. 494 American Legion in Douds.
He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid archery hunter.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Kelli Garland and spouse David of Millersville, Md.; one stepdaughter, Terri Hyre and spouse Steve of Philippi, W.V.; three grandsons; and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
