Joseph (Joe) Eugene Cottrell passed away peacefully on September 1, 2014 at 11:25 PM. He was born January 19, 1939 in Knoxville, IA to Vernon and Delores (Greer) Cottrell.
In 1956 Joe joined the Marine Corp and served until he was honorably discharged in 1962.
Joe married Ruby K. Krieger on June 9, 1957. Together they raised 4 children in Iowa.

Joseph (Joe) Eugene Cottrell passed away peacefully on September 1, 2014 at 11:25 PM. He was born January 19, 1939 in Knoxville, IA to Vernon and Delores (Greer) Cottrell.
In 1956 Joe joined the Marine Corp and served until he was honorably discharged in 1962.
Joe married Ruby K. Krieger on June 9, 1957. Together they raised 4 children in Iowa.
He was often referred to as a ?Master of all Trades? and was highly respected by his family, friends and co-workers. Joe was a Master Mechanic Technician and had worked for Washington Logging, Oregon Tractor, Case, Hessel and retired from Pape in 2006. He and his wife Ruby planned to travel in their 5th wheel to see the country. Joe loved his family, friends and life in general. He looked at death as something inevitable and said more than once that when it was his time ??Turn out the lights, the party?s over?.
Joe is survived by his wife Ruby of Camas, children (and spouses) Vickie (Pete) Palmer of Camas, Chris (Kent) Priebe of Gilson, IL, Dee (Steve) Tozer of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Joe Cottrell II of Kennewick, WA, brother Rick Cottrell, sisters Pat Taylor, Linda Quinn and Ann Sistern, grandchildren David Tozer and Rob Priebe and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, 1 brother and 2 grandsons.
In honor of Joe?s wishes a Celebration of Life will be held at the Rome Baptist Church in Rome, IA at a date yet to be determined.
