Keosauqua to host program on ancient technology
Oct. 4, 2021 1:38 pm
Jefferson County Conservation is helping to sponsor a program on ancient technology from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7 at the Lacey-Keosauqua State Park Beach House Lodge in Keosauqua.
The program is titled “How Did They Do That?” and will cover the innovative technologies of ancient societies that produced stone tools, pottery, weapons and cordage.
“These technologies represent some of the very first scientific innovations in the history of human technology,” stated a news release from Jefferson County Conservation. “These technological ‘firsts’ were essential to the advancement of society. People had to understand and apply basic principles of physics, chemistry, engineering, and natural history.”
Come to the program to learn about flint knapping, pottery making, bone tools, unique uses for plants, and more.
This is an official Des Moines River Water Trails event cosponsored by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Jefferson County Conservation. The Des Moines River Water Trail is one of 19 official water trails in Iowa.
