2025 was another successful year for the Keota FFA. The chapter started the year off by celebrating National FFA Week in February. The chapter was represented by 13 members at Sub-District contests at North Mahaska. After Sub-Districts, 4 members participated in various contests at the District level. In April, Mr. Jamison took 15 FFA members to Ames for the 2025 FFA State Convention, where we competed in a variety of contests and events. For the second year in a row our chapter earned a trip to the National Land Evaluation contest in April. Members on this National Team included; Ayden Galindo, Jack Greiner, Jacob Libe, and Jackson Vittetoe. The month of May entailed the Annual Spring Awards Banquet. Officers for the 2025-26 school year were elected as listed: President- Gavin Sieren, Vice President- Jack Greiner, Secretary- Jackson Vittetoe, Reporter- Brennan McGuire, Treasurer- Garrett Greiner, and Sentinel- Emily Conger. July & August were busy with members exhibiting their projects at fairs, members exhibiting at the Washington County, the Keokuk County Expo, and the great Iowa State Fair.
With the new school year starting we had several contest teams that began their seasons. Our Livestock Judging team won third place at the state contest, which earned them the right to represent the state of Iowa at AK-SAR-BEN in Nebraska and the American Royal in Kansas City. This was an honor for our team and our team had success at both contests. Our Soil Judging team started their season with the Quad County Soil Judging Contest and the South Sub-District Contest. Next the team traveled to Muscatine for the district contest. Here the team placed 7th. For the final trip of the year 7 members traveled to Indianapolis to attend National FFA Convention.
As we enter into the new year, members are working hard to prepare for Sub-District contest and National FFA Week. Mr. Jamison had this to say about the past year, “2025 was a great year for the Keota FFA, we were highly represented on the local, state, and national level in a variety of contests and events. We certainly made our community and alumni proud as we built upon the legacy of the Keota FFA.”
