“Moonlight’s First Trip to the Doctor”
By Callie Brink, Lincoln Elementary
Once upon a time in ancient Greece there was a Unicorn named Moonlight. It was just the crack of dawn when Mom, a Pegasus comes into Moonlight’s room saying “Thank you Dr. Draco.” Moonlight sprung from her bed. What did you just say. Moonlight thought Dr. Draco was a dragon and Moonlight slowly put on her horse slippers and went into the kitchen for breakfast. At breakfast mom said, “Honey, I have noticed that you are not yourself lately. You are normally active and glow from your horn but lately you tire easily and your horn is dim.” “Should I be worried?” Moonlight asks. “No but we have an appointment with Dr. Draco today. Mom Says. Moonlight did not want to go so she ran to her room and hid under the bed. Finally, it was time to go. Moonlight was petrified. The receptionist was nice and called her name. Moonlight took a deep breath and went into the observation stall. In came Dr. Draco, he had purple and pink polka do lab coat. He checked her heart and temperature. He saw that her horn was dim and asked her if she had eaten any strawberry cotton candy lately. She hadn’t had any for a week. She didn’t eat it because she wanted to try vegetables. “Vegetables are good for you and give you energy but you need to eat 10 big bites of strawberry cotton candy twice a day for 2 days.” She was excited because she loved cotton candy. He handed her a lollipop and she and mom went to get some strawberry cotton candy. The End.
“Helpful”
By Brooklyn Thomann, Highland Elementary
Once there was a pretty unicorn named Molly. She had a brother who was totally different then her, his name was Timmy. One day Molly and Timmy laid in the grass napping then a wolf came and bit at Molly’s hair so Timmy the dragon got up and blew fire at the wolf then the wolf left. When Molly got up she had a deep cut. So Timmy took Molly to the doctor. When they came to the doctor Molly was really nervous. So Timmy said “you are going to be fine the doctors and nurses are really nice here”. Then she went in the office with the nurse and got stiches. When Timmy saw Molly again Molly had a lollipop with her. She said “the doctors and nurses were really nice like you said, they even gave me a lollipop.” “See what I told you they weren’t that bad were they.” “No” and they lived happily ever after. The end!
“Fyrus’s Problem”
By Silus Fulk, Roundy Elementary
Once, there was a young boy who lived in the far away land of continuaria. He owned a small pet dragon named “Fyrus.” He was just like any casual dragon – wings, tail, and a fire-breathing throat – but he had one inconvenience. Whenever he opened his mouth, thousands of spark and flames flowed out of him, as if like a cannon full of confetti. Finally, the boy got so sick of blistering his fingers on the fire extinguisher, he decided to take Fyrus to the “exotic pets” doctor. When Fyrus and his owner arrived at the clinic the next day, the boy gave Fyrus just one word of advice; “Just to be safe, don’t open your mouth while we’re inside.” The boy told him. As Fyrus and the boy opened the door, they noticed as soon as they came in that some of the pets there really WERE exotic. There was a sphinx, a three-headed dog, and Fyrus swore he even saw a Unicorn and a Phoenix. Soon, the doctor called Fyrus into his room. He slapped on his gloves and rolled his chair over to the bed Fyrus was sitting on. “Let’s have a looky, shall we?” He said to Fyrus in a trusting tone of voice. The doctor gently plucked a tongue depressor out of a special jar on his counter. “Open wide!” he said to the little dragon. Before the boy could stop him, Fyrus had opened his mouth and let a steady stream of sparks flow onto the doctors face. “EEE-OW!” The doctor yelled. His face was black as charcoal. “I think I see your problem.” The doctor said. After being persuaded to take the medicine, the little dragon finally gave in and took the pills. Suddenly, Fyrus’s eyes turned a hint of orange and sparks flew out of his head as if the fire was leaving him. “Now we need to test that the medicine worked.” Said the doctor. He pulled a welding mask over his face. The dragon opened his mouth and nothing happened. Fyrus’s trip to the doctor wasn’t so bad after all.
