Kindergarten, preschool open house set Friday

Registration at Maharishi School is now open for the 2009-10 school year.

An open house will be held for children ready to enter preschool and kindergarten from 9:45-11:45 a.m. Friday.

The following programs for children ages 2-5 will be offered: kindergarten ? if the child turns 5 years old by Sept. 15; pre-kindergarten? if the child turns 4 years old by Sept. 15; preschool ? if the child turns 2 or 3 years old by Sept. 15.

The programs are designed to foster creativity, orderliness and harmony in the young child. The Science of Creative Intelligence program, including daily practice of the Maharishi Word of Wisdom technique for children 4 years old and older, is integrated into all areas of the young child?s daily activities.

The goal of integrating SCI into the curriculum is to enliven the child?s appreciation to the wonder of life and awaken all the five senses. Play-oriented activities including songs, stories, nature study, creative movement and art are some of the vehicles through which the SCI principles are taught.

Interested parents and children are invited to spend the morning in either the preschool or kindergarten classrooms on Friday. The children will participate in a circle time with song, story and dance and also explore the room during free play time.

Parents are invited to talk with program director Laura Bordow and resource specialist Wendie Nelson throughout the kindergarten and preschool open house event.
