OXFORD ?Kevin Kinney has filed his official candidacy papers to run for re-election in Iowa Senate District 39.
District 39 includes all of Keokuk County; most of Washington County; and portions of western and southern Johnson County, including the communities of Swisher, Shueyville, Oxford, North Liberty, Tiffin, Frytown, and Lone Tree.
Kinney, a farmer and former Johnson County Sheriff?s Deputy, said he decided to run again because he?s always believed in serving his community. ?I?m running for re-election to make sure Iowa keeps its promise to our community colleges, our public schools and universities by keeping a quality, affordable education within reach for every Iowa family,? he said.
Kinney added: ?I believe the experiences I?ve had on the farm, on the school board, and as a sheriff?s deputy for over 25 years give me a breadth of experience that fits this Senate District.?
Sen. Kinney said his campaign will focus on bringing better-paying jobs, revitalizing small towns and rural areas, ensuring Iowa provides the best education in the country, and creating a quality of life that makes Iowa the best place to live.
