Kiwanian of the year

The Mt. Pleasant Kiwanis Club held their annual Christmas Party, Dec. 3 at the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club. Among the club members, Kiwanians raised over $8,000 for warm clothing for needy children. Kiwanis members accompany parents of children to assist them in shopping for the clothing.

Highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Workhorse / Kiwanian of the Year Award. This year's recipient is Tom Hassenfritz. Tom is active in every facet of the club and serves on its board. He has chaired the Pancake Breakfast at the Swap Meet during Memorial Day weekend and the parking fundraiser at the Haunted Rails and Ghost Train in the Fall. He also participates in all the other fundraisers and programs that Kiwanis sponsors. The only mission of the Kiwanis Club is to support children in any way they possibly can.
