The Knights of Columbus Council 4092 in Fairfield, IA was pleased to present 24 children’s coats to the African Violet Foundation (AVF) on October 22. AVF is a nonprofit organization that serves and supports middle and high school students and their families. It provides students with clothing and other school items at no cost.
These new winter coats, youth sizes 8 to 18 will be distributed at no charge to families on an as-needed basis. From 2009 to present, the KofC national organization has distributed over 400,000 new winter coats throughout North America and Canada.
Grand Knight, Jacob Adam, commented that this was the first year the “Coats for Kids” program has been conducted by the Fairfield Council with the planning and coordination of member, John Reindl. “The Council will monitor the distribution of the coats during the upcoming months and will certainly consider expanding the program as the need presents itself.”
