Language classes to fight dementia
N/A
Jan. 17, 2019 12:05 pm
Many studies indicate there are things you can do to delay the onset of dementia, including Alzheimer's, they involve continuing to challenge our brains, to exercise out brain every day. Articles describing that process often mention two specific kinds of activity that effective: Learning to play a musical instrument and learning a language.
The Spanish Wayfaters Association is not your typical language study course, it uses language development as a kind of therapy with an informal guided exchange model. It is highly participatory and includes a variety of resources to keep brains healthy in a way that has practical applications. Mistakes are encouraged, no fees apply and no past experience with Spanish is required.
Gatherings begin Feb. 8, at 10:30 a.m. in the Game Room at Halcyon House in Washington.
Classes will be facilitated by Clyde E. Pearce. Born in Southern California, Pearce previously resided in Florida and Colorado and traveled to several Spanish-speaking countries without a linguistic guide.
