Leadership Fairfield is a new seven-course program open to anyone interested in learning from, networking with and being inspired by local leaders.
Sponsored by the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Indian Hills Community College, Leadership Fairfield is a community awareness program designed to highlight the common thread that unites all the incredible things going on in Fairfield: effective leadership.
Day-long classes will begin in September and run through an April graduation, meeting one day each month and visiting various local organizations. Each day will focus on a different aspect of the community, including business/entrepreneurship, local government and public safety, education, and quality of life.
All participants will be involved with a community project of their choice to demonstrate leadership in action.
?It is our hope that participants in the program will gain a greater understanding of how various groups function and be inspired to get more involved in our community,? said Fairfield Chamber Executive Director Nancy Morrissey.
According to the program leaders, prosperous local economies don?t just happen; people must work to create them, and the program will provide a ?big picture? understanding of how that happens in Fairfield.
The program leaders say all businesses benefit from being part of a healthy, thriving community. Participants in the program will see first-hand examples of why it is important to be a good citizen, both from a corporate and civic perspective.
The program leaders also said:
? Participants will receive practical leadership tips from established leaders in the community.
? It is easier to retain talent when employees are actively engaged in the larger community.
? It is always valuable to have employees with strong professional networks. During the program, participants will have multiple opportunities to grow their professional network.
? The program will bring together individuals from many diverse backgrounds and have them discuss a host of complex issues. It is a professional strength to be able to work well with people who may have different perspectives.
