Patriotism Alive at Mount Pleasant Schools
As the new Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Mt. Pleasant I wanted to express my gratitude to the Mt. Pleasant Community School District for their continued support in teaching today’s youth Patriotism. During the week leading up to this past Veterans Day high school students made free breakfast on Nov. 9 where they welcomed Veterans into their school.
The high school Chamber Choir sang patriotic songs and passed out handmade patriotic thank you cards from Middle School students. On Nov. 10, Hy-Vee offered free breakfast for Veterans where 5th grade students from Lincoln sang patriotic songs.
On Nov. 11, the annual Veterans Day Ceremony was held at the Mt. Pleasant Veterans Hall. The high school Chamber Choir again sang patriotic songs and handed out homemade patriotic thank you cards from Middle School students. While I only participated in the Veterans Day Ceremony, I heard from several Veterans that attended the breakfast events at both the high school and Hy-Vee and they had only good things to say about the school’s effort in saying thank you.
Congratulations Mt. Pleasant Community School District on a job well done. We Veterans enjoyed the efforts that were put forth to make our Veterans Day one to remember.
