The Fairfield Public Library will host its free film Friday evening in the library community room.
This 2018 film was inspired by a true friendship that transcended race, class, and the 1962 Mason-Dixon Line. A bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx is hired to drive a world-class Black pianist. On a concert tour from Manhattan to the Deep South, they must rely on a guidebook listing the few establishments that were then safe for African-Americans. Confronted with racism, danger as well as unexpected humanity and humor - they are forced to set aside differences to survive and thrive on the journey of a lifetime.
The film was nominated for 2019 Academy Awards in five different categories, and it won three Oscars.
The film is rated PG-13. Run time is two hours and 10 minutes.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the film begins at 7:30 p.m. Those attending are asked to arrive early as seating is limited.
The $1 donations for organic popcorn help the library to renew its movie licenses.
The library's movie license does not allow it to advertise the name of the free movie. For detailed information, go the Fairfield Public Library's calendar on the website http://www2.youseemore.com/fairfield.
