Lincoln Elementary School will host the first round of the 2015 National Geographic Bee at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, in the Lincoln Elementary School media center, located at 606 S. Fourth Ave.
For the 27th year, the National Geographic Society is holding the National Geographic Bee for students in the fourth- through eighth-grades in thousands of schools across the United States and in the five U.S. territories, as well as in Department of Defense Dependents schools around the world.
The winner of the Lincoln Elementary School Bee will advance to the next level of competition ? a written examination to determine state competitors. All school winners are eligible to win the national championship and its first prize ? a $50,000 college scholarship, lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society, $500 in cash, and a trip to the Galapagos Islands ? at the national competition May 11-13, 2015, in Washington, D.C.
