Those coming for the funeral of their father, Harlan Hochstetler of Kalona were sons Ledru and wife, Sheri Hochstetler and Lamonte and wife, Valerie Hochtetler from Oregon. They spent time in Kalona while here with their mother, Joretta and others in the area. Visiting in the home of Joey and Alice Hochstetler were their children, J.B. and Carla Hochstetler and families, Ilona and Matt Roberts and Tim and Kim Hochstetler and families, all from Indiana and Lara Hochstetler from the Middle East.
Lara Hochstetler returned to her home Monday after visiting the past 2 1/2 weeks with her parents, Joey and Alice Hochstetler and others in the area. Lara is doing humanitarian work overseas and studying and learning the Arabic language. She will be returning to the states for three months later this summer.
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, Jan. 26, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 17 members and three guests, Zoey Dennler and her parents, Darren and Karen Dennler, present.
The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance led by first Vice President Larry Swailes. Lion Larry Fletcher gave the opening prayer.
Following a delicious dinner prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, the program, 'Being a Queen, A Year in Review” was presented by Zoey Dennler, Miss Junior Rodeo 2018.
After the program, the meeting reconvened. Secretary Lion Nancy Love gave the minutes of the Jan. 14 meeting and they were approved as read. Lion Randy Finke gave the treasurer's report.
Unfinished Business: The Pancake Supper is approaching. Lion Mindy Wilson will pick up groceries at Hy-Vee the morning of Feb. 16. Lion Loree Stogdill will see that posters are put up. Lyon Larry Swailes will inquire if there are 4-H members available to help clean up and Lion Adam Mitchell will ask Community Club members as well.
Members are reminded that the regular dinner meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11. The Pancake Supper will be counted as the second meeting.
As there was no further business, the meeting adjourned.
