The Little Hawk Clover Kid Club met Nov. 18 for an evening of community service and giving to those in need. They had several service project stations going throughout the night for the 22 members to participate in.
The group spent some time defining community service and ways to help those in need. As a group they collected items for HACAP and hats/gloves for Feed the Kids. At their meeting, they designed Christmas placemats for Pleasantview Home in Kalona, filled Christmas stockings for patients and goody bags for parents at University of Iowa Children?s Hospital. They also worked together to complete two tie blankets to donate to the U of I Children?s Hospital.
Clover Kids is a fun 4-H program for children in kindergarten through third grade to participate in hands-on activities designed to build many life skills. Sarah Rodgers and Jenni Hershberger are the volunteer leaders for the Little Hawk Clover kids with the assistance of Casey Peck. If interested in helping this growing club for the Wellman and Kalona area as a leader, please contact Amy at the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811.
4-H sets the example for youth to value community service and model how to give back on a regular basis. 4-H encourages youth to get involved in the community and give their time and talents to those in need.
