The Little Hawk Clover Kid Club met in November for an evening of community service and giving to those in need. They had several service project stations going throughout the night for the 20 members to participate in.
The group spent some time defining community service and ways to help those in need. As a group they brought donations for the Ronald McDonald House, made fleece scarves to donate to Mid-Prairie schools, made tie blankets for the U of I Children's Hospital and made Blessing Bags to give to another child to brighten their day.
Clover Kids is a fun 4-H program for children in kindergarten to third grade to participate in hands-on activities designed to build many life skills. Sarah Rodgers and Jenni Hershberger are the volunteer leaders for the Little Hawk Clover kids with the assistance of Casey Peck. If interested in helping this growing club for the Wellman and Kalona area as a leader, please contact Amy at the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811.
4-H sets the example for youth to value community service and model how to give back on a regular basis. 4-H encourages youth to get involved in the community and give their time and talents to those in need.
