A local band, ?Double Vision,? donated $9,072 to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children?s Hospital in Iowa City on Saturday, June 16.
Fundraising for the donation started a year ago when the band?s drummer Jimmy Mathews challenged the band to fundraise for an organization. After discussion, they settled on the Stead Family Children?s Hospital.
?It helps that we are all Hawkeye fans,? said band member Sabrina Mathews, of Salem.
?Double Vision? played at the Moose Lodge in Mt. Pleasant on March 24 to an enthusiastic and supportive crowd, despite uncooperative weather. Small businesses, corporate and personal donations made up a silent auction that night.
?At the end of the night, we did not even know we had raised that much money, and we were truly humbled when we found out the result,? Mathews said. ?We would like to thank all of you again for what (you) have done for those children.?
