Local group sponsors Life Chain

Sunday marks the 30th anniversary of Life Chain Sunday, which started in 1987 in Yuba City and Marysville, California.

Life Chain is a silent witness of anti-abortion individuals who come together and conduct silent prayer in hopes of ending abortion.

In honor of Life Chain?s 30th anniversary, Jefferson County Right to Life is sponsoring the local chain from 2-3 p.m. Sunday.

Last year, more than 1,600 cities hosted Life Chains.

?It?s not a protest, but a silent, public, prayer-filled hour,? said local resident Karen Crossland.

?Please meet at the city parking lot at the corner of Court Street and Washington Avenue at 1:45 p.m. There will be an opening prayer and participants will pick up anti-abortion signs to hold while they pray.?

Prayer is from 2-3 p.m. along Burlington Avenue.

?Feel free to bring a lawn chair and sit if you are unable to stand for an hour,? Crossland said.
