On June 21, 2022 Lions Larry and Nancy Love flew from Cedar Rapids to Quebec City, Canada where they spent three days exploring the old city. From there they took the train to Montreal where they attended the Lions International Convention which was in session until June 28.
They walked in the International Parade of Nations and attended three Plenary sessions and several workshops. The culmination point of the convention was the installation of the International President Brian Sheehan of Montreal.
Also, this was the time the Vice District Governors took their oath of office and had their election ribbons pulled from their official name badges. They returned to their home on June 29. They report temperatures were very pleasant in the 75-80 degree range while in Canada, Nancy is currently District Governor of the Lions District 9 SE and on July 1 will become Council Chair of Lions for the state of Iowa.
Fun Family Weekend
The Larry Love family spent the weekend of July 4th at Lacey Keosauqua State Park camping and enjoying outdoor activities. Those attending were Larry and Nancy Love, Sonya Love-Smith and Audrey and Kenny Kruse, Tyler and Maggie Robertson, Kinsley and Noah, Jesse, Betsy and Preston Lasek, Wes, Lawson and Isaac Love and Jamie Brame. They attended the Lions Club Breakfast and the kids enjoyed the pedal pull. Lawson received 1st place in his age division and Isaac, 2nd in his.
The group enjoyed other activities in town and fishing and spending time together, as well as the fireworks. They had designated this as their "Mandatory Family Weekend" in the past, but next year it becomes their "Mandatory Family Fun & Eating Weekend." Sounds like a good time was had by all.
Fundraiser for the Youth
The Ainsworth Community Church Youth Group are inviting the United Church of Crawfordsville to join them on Sunday, July 24, right after ACC services to join them at approximately 11:30 a.m. for a fundraiser for the group. A barbecue lunch will be provided and desserts will be for sale. There will be games for the kids and families. There will be a charge for entering the games, as prizes will be awarded. Theses will be held on the lawn between the old North and South Church buildings.
The Crawfordsville Fun Days were a huge success on July 8 and 9. Friday evening, there was a Corn Hole Tournament, a food truck featuring Mexican food and a movie. The weather was beautiful on Saturday and everyone enjoyed the parade, which featured Duane and Ann Lewis as Parade Marshals. Saturday started off with the Firemen serving a Biscuit and Gravy Breakfast, there was a Car, Truck and Tractor Show and later there were Food and Drink trucks, Face Art, Fireman's Water Fights, Pony Rides, Kids Pedal Pull and Pedal Pull with Ohana Pedal Pullers. The Lions Club served a Pork burger lunch. The day culminated with a Scavenger Hunt.
