Jan. 16, 2023 2:37 pm
Iowa Wesleyan University announced that seven students completed a teacher education program.
Two of those seven students were local students, Breanna Mettler of New London and Aimee Iverson of Mt. Pleasant.
On December 8, 2022, those seven students from the Teacher Education Program completed their student teaching experience in area schools. During the professional experience, each teacher candidate completed two terms in diverse classroom settings.
Each placement involved various grade levels located in different K-12 buildings across Southeast Iowa. Student teachers solo teach for a minimum of 15 days in each setting, with many acting as the lead teacher for longer stints.
During fall 2022, three candidates student taught in elementary settings (Breanna Mettler, Emilee Rooney, & Courtney Zaehringer), and four candidates student taught in physical education (Kyle Adams, Aimee Iverson, Nico Sheck, & Charles Shockley). Following the completion of their successful student teaching experience, each will be recommended to the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners for teacher licensure.
