Local students earn honors at college

IOWA WESLEYAN
Iowa Wesleyan University wants to congratulate the 17 August graduates. The Fall 2020, Spring 2021, and Summer 2021 semesters were unique and held many challenges, but these 17 graduates still persevered and were determined to graduate from IW during these uncertain times. Iowa Wesleyan University has announced the list of science teaching assistants for the Fall 2021 semester.
Dr. Will Hansen states, "The Biology Department Teaching Assistants at Iowa Wesleyan University are an essential facet of this phenomenal program. The TAs are much more than just assistants to the professors, they are peer tutors, laboratory leaders, undergraduate researchers, and role models for the students." Iowa Wesleyan University's Provost is very excited to have this group of students help out within the science department: "Our Teaching Assistant program employs some of the best and brightest students on campus. They play such an integral role in assisting students to grasp the key concepts from the science lectures through hands-on engagement."

CENTRAL COLLEGE
Anna Venenga of Washington was one of seven Central College students to receive one of the college's full-tuition Kuyper Scholarships and Rolscreen Foundation Scholarships, the most prestigious awards granted at the college.
Peter H. Kuyper founded Rolscreen Company, known today as Pella Corporation. The Kuyper family has provided financial assistance to Central students since 1952.
KIRKWOOD
Kirkwood Community College has released its dean's list for the summer 2021 semester. These students have achieved a 3.3 grade point average or higher after completing 12 or more credit hours at the college.

Katelynn Bombei of Keota graduated with a master of education in special education (instructional strategist II track) from Buena Vista University in the Summer of 2021.
Bombei was among more than 100 students who received degrees.
