Local wineries on wine trail event

Three area vineyards and wineries are participating in the third annual Scenic Rivers Wine Trail Chocolate Lovers and Wine Weekend from noon to 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

Cedar Valley Winery of Batavia will be offering orange peel scones, wine-soaked chocolate cherries and chocolate-dipped ladyfingers.

Crane Winery in Selma will be offering decadent brownies.

Whispering Pines Winery in Keosauqua will have a chocolate fountain and cheesecake treats.

Five other wineries along the Scenic Rivers Wine Trail in Iowa and Illinois also will be participating. Stop by any of the wineries and pick up a map while sampling their chocolate treats and wine. Visit all the wineries to have the map stapped and receive a free reusable wine bucket ice bag.
