BLOOMFIELD ? ?Other Life Forms? by Fairfield scribe David Patterson has been chosen for production for Davis County Players? second annual Summer Shorts Play Festival.
The call for short play submissions from Iowa authors went out in February, and the Davis County Players selected just six plays. In addition to Patterson?s work, plays selected are ?Crime Spree,? ?Grand Slam,? ?First Day of School,? ?Over Your Dead Body? and ?Checkers.?
A $50 prize will be given for the best locally written play, and the best overall play will nab the $100 grand prize. Winners will be announced in August.
The festival, sponsored by the Davis County Fine Arts Council, is scheduled at 7 p.m. Aug. 5-6 at the Iowa Theatre in downtown Bloomfield. The six plays will be performed by local talent. The evening also will include live music and poetry. Gail Wortmann will emcee the event.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children ages 12 and under. Tickets are available at the door the days of the show.
