Margaret Patterson and her granddaughter, Brittany Hogue recently attended a Welsh Weekend in Baraboo, WI., which was organized by the Welsh Gymanfa Association of Wisconsin.
Saturday activities included a tour of the beautiful Al Ringling Theater, a drive past the Circus World grounds and the boyhood home of the seven Ringling brothers. The theater is magnificent and richly designed in the style of Grand French Opera Houses and is a masterpiece of European architecture.
It opened its doors in November of 1915 and has been operating continuously ever since. It was designed by the architectural firm of Rapp and Rapp and was built by Albert Ringling, one of the seven circus Ringling brothers for $100,000.
Following a drive to the country to locate the old Welsh Cemetery, attendees gathered for Welsh competitions hosted at the Presbyterian Church in Baraboo.
A Gymanfa Ganu (Welsh Singing) was held on Sunday afternoon at the church and conducted by Rev. Joseph Corbin.
THANKFUL FOR MAY BASKETS
Community members were reminded how nice it is to live in a small town when the Pre-K Class at WACO Elementary delivered May Baskets to residents and then later Crawfordsville Community Club members delivered May Baskets to 40 area residents, both in the city and country. I'm sure everyone appreciated these very thoughtful gestures. Thank You everyone!!
WHITE CLOUD CLUB
Six members of the White Cloud Club met Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Your Choice Family Restaurant in Wayland for lunch.
President Betty Lintz opened with "fun quotes". Members enjoyed guessing
answers to the quiz. There was no Old Business. New Business was to discuss where the June 4 meeting would be held. The decision will be made later. Members brought pictures of themselves in younger years and they were passed around. Interesting and fun comments were had by all.
A plant and bulb exchange was held. Members will enjoy the different plants and bulbs at their homes this summer.
Attending were Jolene Colthurst, Diane Johnston, Betty Lintz, Pat Miller, Margaret Patterson and Virginia Sands.
