When the ninth day of the month falls on a Friday or Saturday in 2011, Red Rock Tavern is hosting ?To the Nines on the Ninth? events to benefit the Lord?s Cupboard of Jefferson County.
The first of four events kicks off with Jefferson County Green Band playing live from 10 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday.
Food and cash donations will be collected all evening, and Jefferson County Green Band has volunteered to set up tables in front of the tavern to collect donations for the cupboard from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday
Patrons are invited to come ?dressed to the nines? ? wearing more than just jeans and T-shirt ? and the first drink is on the tavern.
Subsequent events are scheduled July 9, Sept. 9 and Dec. 9, with entertainment to be announced at a later date.
The Lord?s Cupboard serves as Jefferson County?s sole emergency food pantry, providing non-perishable food items and other essentials to those in need. The cupboard serves between 75-100 families each month.
The cupboard is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which allows the donations of cash, stocks, bonds and other securities to be tax deductible.
