Louisa County Conservation invites you and your family to join us on Saturday, October 22 at Virginia Grove Recreation Area between 6:00 – 9:00 pm for the annual Halloween Hike. Participants at this family friendly event can expect to walk approximately a quarter-mile path through the forest. As you walk the luminary lit trail five skits will be presented about “Mysteries of the Night!” Find out who’s been creeping, leaping, and flying through the forest while you’ve been fast asleep. The evening will include a campfire, s’mores and other great treats!
Participants are asked to bring their own reusable mug for hot cocoa and are welcome to wear a Halloween costume. There is a fee of $2 per person. The skits are educational and fun, not scary.
For more information visit LouisaCountyConservation.org. Pre-registration is required and can be made by calling 319-523-8381 or emailing us at conservation@louisacountyia.gov. Guided hikes begin at 6:00 pm and leave every 10-minutes from the campground until 8:00 pm. When registering, please let us know how many will be in your group and your top 3 timeslots. You will receive an email back with the time you are scheduled and other important information.
The Halloween Hike is sponsored by Louisa County Conservation with assistance from many community volunteers. Volunteers are needed to act in skits, help with setup, direct traffic, assist at stations, bake cookies, and help with refreshments. Call today if you’d like to volunteer!
Virginia Grove Recreation Area is located at 20406 55th Street, Morning Sun, Iowa. It is about 6 miles northwest of Morning Sun and 10 miles west of Wapello.
