Iowa's low-income home energy assistance program, commonly known by its abbreviation LIHEAP, is taking applications now.
The program is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services through the Iowa Department of Human Rights. It is established to help qualified low-income Iowa homeowners and renters fund a portion of their primary heating costs.

Jefferson County: 2200 W. Jefferson Ave., Fairfield; phone: 641-472-6140. Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Van Buren: 902 4th St., Keosauqua; phone: 319-293-3722. Hours: Wednesday from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
