Lucy E. Ford 98, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Sunrise Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Winfield.
Lucy was born on February 8, 1920, in Mogendorf, Germany the daughter of Edward & Anna Brodthage Rudat. Lucy and her family moved to the United States when she was 4 months old, her father was a United States soldier serving in the Army of Occupation stationed in Germany at the end of World War I. She was united in marriage to Frank Ford in Memphis, Missouri on June 12, 1941, he preceded her in death in July of 1988. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School, and attended Iowa Wesleyan College prior to teaching for 6 years in Henry County rural schools. Lucy was later employed at Schaffer Pen in Ft. Madison, Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, and the Mental Health Institute in Mt. Pleasant for a number of years. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, taught Sunday school for a number of years and was a charter member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant.
Lucy is survived by her brother Fred Rudat of Michigan, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sisters; Susie Willis, Ruby Brockway, Elsie Tackenberg, one brother Donald Rudat.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Michael Scudder officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until service time on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Faith Lutheran Church or to the Sunrise Terrace Activity Fund in her memory.
