M.U.M. students hail from record 88 countries this year

Maharishi University of Management officials have announced the university has a highly diverse student body again this year, with the approximately 1,200 students enrolled as of the beginning of September coming from a record 88 different countries.
The largest number of students ? 340 ? comes from the United States. That?s followed by Ethiopia, with 218, and China, with 124. Together these three countries account for more than half the students at M.U.M.
Rounding out the top 10 are Nepal, with 84; South Africa, with 39; Egypt, with 31; India, with 26; Jordan, also with 26; the Philippines, with 24; and Cambodia, with 20.
University officials added the number of students from Mongolia has been growing, with 17 students enrolled this fall. Plus, the university enrolled its first undergraduate student from Uzbekistan.
International students are enrolled in a wide range of programs offered at M.U.M., but the highest percentage come for the master?s-level professional programs in management and computer science.
Enrollment of new students was strong again this fall, with 118 new undergraduate students and 70 new graduate students as of the beginning of
September. The new graduate students include those in the standard programs, evening and weekend programs and interns.
More graduate students will be arriving in October for the computer professionals master?s program.
Admissions now recommends students learn the Transcendental Meditation technique before arriving as part of the admissions process. According to Brad Mylett, dean of admissions, 70 percent of the new students learned before arriving this year.
