Maasdam Barns to host Dutch oven demonstration

Maasdam Barns in Fairfield will host a Dutch oven demonstration at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11.

Attendees are invited to join Gay Chapman and Therese Cummiskey for a demonstration of Dutch oven cooking.

“These ovens have been in use for centuries and were an important part of the westward expansion of our country,” Cummiskey said. “Come learn some of its history, the basics of Dutch oven cooking, and taste test some delicious dishes.”

This event, co-sponsored by the Carnegie Historical Museum and Maasdam Barns, will take place at Maasdam Barns located south of the Jefferson County Health Center. Look for the bakers under the shade of the cedar trees by the picnic tables. After the demonstration, attendees can visit the barns and see the horses brought in on the second Saturday of the month.
