Registration at Maharishi School is now open for the 2011-2012 school year, and an open house will be held for children ready to enter preschool and kindergarten from 9:30-11:45 a.m. April 8 in the preschool and kindergarten classrooms.
Visiting children are welcome to join group activities during the open house and spend time in the Nature Explore Classroom, weather permitting. During the morning, parents are invited to talk with program director Laura Bordow and resource specialist Wendie Nelson.
The following programs will be offered:
? Kindergarten: Eligible children must be 5 years old by Sept. 15.
? Pre-kindergarten: Children eligible must be 4 years old by Sept. 15.
? Preschool: Children must be 2 or 3 years old by Sept. 15.
In addition, Maharishi School is considering offering an infant/toddler program, which would accept children from 3 months to 2 years old. Parents interested in the program should plan to attend the open house or contact Bordow at lbordow@msae.edu.
The new Nature Explore Classroom, certified by the Arbor Day Foundation, is an important addition to the school?s early childhood curriculum, as opportunities are provided to connect children to nature on a daily basis. This spring, the children will be involved in adding an abundance of trees, shrubs and edible plantings to the classroom, funded through newly acquired grants from the Arbor Day Foundation and Trees Forever. In addition, a bird habitat and bird blind will be built to draw more wildlife to the area.
The Science of Creative Intelligence, including daily practice of the Maharishi Word of Wisdom technique for children 4 years and older, is integrated into all areas of the young child?s daily activities at Maharishi School. The goal of integrating SCI into the curriculum is to enliven the child?s appreciation to the wonder of life and awaken all five senses.
Parents new to Maharishi School who attend the open house and register prior to May 15 will receive $50 credit toward tuition.
For information, contact Bordow at 472-9400, ext. 5070, or at lbordow@msae.edu.
