Main Street Mt. Pleasant to host first annual Friendsgiving

The Main Street Mt. Pleasant board of directors feel that few things beat a table of great food and close friends. The Main Street Mt. Pleasant board of directors invites the public to their annual Friendsgiving on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. at Union Block.

For nearly three-and-a-half years, members of the Union Block Revitalization committee worked with the Main Street Mt. Pleasant board and other community volunteers, entities and organizations to raise the money necessary to preserve the Union Block building. A large community celebration was held on Aug. 24, 2014, to formally rededicate the Union Block building. After raising around $3.2 million Main Street Mt. Pleasant took out a $450,000 mortgage on the Union Block. Main Street needs the community's help to raise $10,000 to help with the mortgage.
