DES MOINES (AP) ? A man who made gun threats inside a Des Moines middle school has been sentenced to two years in prison.
The Des Moines Register reports that 35-year-old Ryan Collier was sentenced Wednesday. He pleaded guilty in October to first-degree harassment, interference with official acts and domestic assault.
Collier was arrested in late October following a manhunt around Merrill Middle School after he argued with his girlfriend inside the school and said he had a gun. He was later found hiding under a car.
The incident forced several schools to be locked down.
Collier had sought probation so he could seek treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from his U.S. Marine Corps service. But Polk County District Court James Birkenholz said Collier?s history of drug arrests merited a prison sentence.
