Marek to attend Auxiliary Girls State Program
Makenzi Marek, daughter of Timothy and Heather Marek, was chosen by the Leon Beatty Unit 29 of the American Legion to attend the annual Iowa American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program being held June 12 to 17 at Drake University in Des Moines.

Makenzi Marek, daughter of Timothy and Heather Marek, was chosen by the Leon Beatty Unit 29 of the American Legion to attend the annual Iowa American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program being held June 12 to 17 at Drake University in Des Moines.
Marek has completed her junior year and is one of 300 girls attending this program. She will learn through hands-on experience about the political system involved in the government of Iowa.
Throughout the week, the girls will campaign for office, create party platforms, and hold city, county and state elections in their own cities.
Marek attends Washington High School (WHS) and is involved in FFA, Business Professionals of America, Peer Helpers, cheerleader for the varsity football team and a competition cheerleader, varsity dance team, track, St. Mary's Youth Group, Jackson Jets 4-H Club, Washington 4-H Elite and participates in Stairway to the Stars Dance and Tumbling classes.
