Washington — Washington Community Theatre (WCT) is pleased to welcome Mark Fischer as its newest team member.
A native of Moberly, Missouri, Fischer comes to Washington Community Theatre with extensive experience in arts leadership and theatre operations. His background includes work with the historic 4th Street Theatre in Moberly, the Moberly Council of the Arts, and the 4th Street Players. During his tenure in Moberly, Fischer brought new performances and events to the community, including a film festival, and fostered collaborations with the local library, charitable organizations, and special-needs communities. His efforts also supported tourism and community outreach initiatives such as Helping Hands.
Fischer’s professional experience combines business administration and theatre technology, a skill set that uniquely positions him to support the mission and operations of Washington Community Theatre.
Fischer and his family recently relocated to Washington. His wife, Vickie, is a veterinary practice manager with 23 years of experience. Their children include Samuel, who is pursuing a technical theatre degree at Central Methodist University; Cody, who participates in outings and crafts through his day program; Ethan, who volunteers at the theatre and enjoys building LEGO sets; and Wesley, who enjoys singing and art.
“I’m excited to begin this position and to join the Washington community,” Fischer said. “While I never expected to leave my hometown, the opportunity and the warm welcome we have received here convinced us to make Washington our home. The community’s commitment to the arts is evident and refreshing, and I look forward to meeting more members of the community and helping continue the legacy of Washington Community Theatre.”
