Marlene Pelster has returned from visiting Aug. 20-27 with Jane and Randy Moore in Eureka, Montana.
They camped and hiked in Glacier National Park. Jane was an excellent trail guide. They hiked some of Jane's favorite trails, the longest was the Highline Trail, 12.5 miles. Luckily there was a shuttle to take at the end. They didn't see any bears, but did see mountain goats and deer.
They also went to the Tobacco Valley Fair and attended the Bull Thing. It is a bull riding event that attracts professional bull riders from around the world. While at the fair, she met Jane's Aunt Hazel, who had just turned 99 years young, who had four paintings entered in the fair, which won some blue ribbons.
While there, Jane and Randy also took her to Kootenai Falls Park, where they hiked along the trails and saw beautiful waterfalls. There is a swinging bridge that goes over the river through the falls. Jane, who is from this area, is familiar with the Swinging Bridge at Columbus Junction, says the one down there swings more when walking over it than the one in Montana.
The last night there they played pickleball. The town of Eureka has new courts, which are used frequently.
She reports the weather was really nice while there with temps in the 70's during the day and lows in the 40's and 50's at night. Jane texted her on the 29th and told her it had snowed and the Going to the Sun road in Glacier Park was closed, which is the only road through the park, so she was fortunate to go when she did.
WHITE CLOUD CLUB
Members of The White Cloud Club met for their annual club tour on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024. Although the numbers were low, the three members, Jolene Cothurst, Betty Lintz and Pat Miller enjoyed a beautiful day.

The ladies also did some shopping and Betty drove around the area pointing out many points of interest. Upon arriving back in Crawfordsville, Betty served an almond dessert and drinks.
