Martha Washington Questers No. 1032 met on April 24 at the home of Maurine Roberts with 10 member and one guest in attendance. The guest was former member Sharon Hough, who will become a member again.
President Linda Newlon opened the meeting with the Questers Invocation. The minutes were read by secretary Jane Fehr and approved as read. The treasurer's report was given by treasurer Janet Peterson. A correction was made and then approved. All members have paid their dues for the next year.
Officers for next year were presented by the nominating committee and approved by the members. The officers will be: Virginia Reighard, president; Marilyn Whitenack, vice president; Jane Fehr, secretary; and Janet Peterson, treasurer.
The June outing will be on June 19, with a trip to Centerville. The signup sheet was passed around for hostesses, co-hostesses and programs for each month next year.
Members learned that Gerry Schmidt is feeling better and that she will be moving to the United Presbyterian Home, but will still keep her Questers membership.
The next meeting will be May 22 at the home of Jane Fehr. Co-hostess will be Janet Peterson and the program will be given by Linda Newlon on her Alaskan adventures.
The business meeting was concluded and the program was presented by Maurine Roberts. She is an accomplished pianist and she entertained the group with lovely works of music from Chopin, Handel, Mozart and Beethoven. She played some popular songs, such as Autumn Leaves and Here's That Rainy Day. The members enjoyed some church hymns such as Amazing Grace and Shine On Us. She ended with Fanfare for the Common Man by Aaron Copland. It was an amazing afternoon with an amazing talent. The group feels lucky to have her in the Questers' group.
The afternoon was completed with refreshments provided by Jane Fehr. It was all in all a wonderful day.
