Martha Washington Questers 1032 met May 23, 2014, at the home of Jane Fehr. Nine members were present. President Linda Newlon called the meeting to order, and the members recited the Questers Invocation.
Hostess was Jane Fehr, and co-hostess was Vicki Ealy. After the roll call, the minutes were read and approved. The treasurer?s report was approved.
The members discussed the 175th Washington anniversary celebration. Janet Peterson suggested riding in a convertible in period dress. The parade will be June 7. Plans were made for the display from Questers in the window of Adellya?s Consignment Shop. Marilyn Whitenack brought costumes for her manikin, Mary Statler will furnish a tea cart, and Carol or Jane will furnish a tea set. Pat volunteered her granddaughter to make a sign for the window. It was decided to begin decorating on Wednesday, May 28.
The June outing will be June 27 with a visit to Maureen?s sister in rural Tipton, to see her log home. Members will meet at the Walmart parking lot at 8:30 a.m. and will carpool. Maurine and Jane will bring muffins. Plans will be made for lunch later.
Mary Levy from the Chilcote Questers has asked for help in applying for a grant to improve the log cabin. Pat Johnson volunteered to help with the grant writing. A sign-up sheet was passed around for next year?s meetings and programs. A field trip to West Branch was approved for Sept. 26. The next meeting will be the June outing. The business meeting was adjourned.
The program was Show and Tell. Various members shared many interesting things, including items from Alaska, a family tree plate, a collection of Boyd?s bears, a Conger House souvenir plate and spoon, and some Norman Rockwell Post magazine covers. Jane ended the meeting with some advice for all collectors: Don?t feel guilty about collecting; just remember ?if there?s a place for it in your heart, there?s a place for it in your home.?
